Chinese cities Puyang, Urumqi and Xi’an were declared sister cities respectively to Gwadar, Karachi and Multan respectively.
This development took place in a forum organized in Beijing to increase friendly relations between the two countries. According to a press release, the Pakistani delegation, led by the federal minister of inter-provincial co-ordination, has Dr. Fehmida Mirza and Chinese officials sign separate agreements on the event.

Dr Mirza also emphasized the importance of the One Belt One Road project. It calls it a milestone for regional connectivity. He also acknowledged China’s support for Pakistan in the recent situation on behalf of Pakistan.
He noted that Imran Khan’s Prime Minister’s visit to China gave a new direction to the Sino-Pak friendship and opened new co-operation prospects.
The federal minister said on occasion that Pakistan appreciated its cooperation and relationship with China. He expressed the hope that diplomatic visits and the person-to-person contact between the two countries would strengthen bilateral social, political, cultural and economic relations.
The event further discussed the initiative to declare Chinese cities as twin cities to Pakistani cities. This step will facilitate co-operation in the province’s management, environmental protection, public health, trade and investment, poverty reduction, urbanization, tourism co-operation and professional / professional education.
Sister cities or twin cities refer to a form of social or legal agreement between cities, cities or even countries in politically and geographically diverse areas to promote commercial and cultural ties.
