Exclusive News: Top Taxpayers are Going to Have Dinner with The PM

The government invites the country’s main contributors to eat with Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The Federal Council of Revenue (FBR) compiled a list of the top 50 contributors to Pakistan invited for dinner.

A summary was sent to the Ministry of Finance to ask the Prime Minister’s time in this regard. The list includes both individual taxpayers and large companies paying taxes.

The major companies that pay taxes are Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan Petroleum (PPL), Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and major banks such as United Bank Limited (UBL), MCB, National Bank, Silk Bank and other companies including telecommunications companies.

The heads, executive directors (CEOs) or representatives of these companies will attend the dinner with the prime minister. Guest contributors to dinner include Arif Habib, Syed Shahzad Hassan Shah Hassan Mansha, Mohammed Yasin Malik Wazir Ali Pardhan, Syed Irshad Ahmed, Mian Amir Mansha, Imtiaz Hussain, Babar Ali, Riaan Hussain, Abdul Ghaffar Memon, Malik Shahin, and others.

According to sources from the Ministry of Finance, the dinner is organized to encourage taxpayers and also to get their recommendations on policies to increase tax revenue.

The practical recommendations will be made to the budget. Note that the prime minister promised shortly after being sworn in as prime minister, who promised a meal each year with the top 50 taxpayers.

Ministers, including Finance Minister Asad Umar, Minister of State for Revenue Service Hammad Azhar, Minister for Planning and Development Khusro Bakhtiar, Adviser to Prime Minister Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, Chairman of FBR, his team and heads of Investment Council The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and other organizations will also be attending dinner.
