Federal Council of Revenue (FBR) Reveals an Improvement in Parliamentary Taxpayers

At least 9 parliamentarians paid less than Rs. 10,000 in tax and 4 members of the National Assembly did not pay any tax for the year ended June 30, 2017 revealed the Tax Council of Members published by the Federal Council of Revenue (FBR).

According to the FBR Council, 9 MEPs pay less than Rs. Tax of 10,000 for the year ended June 30, 2017, as opposed to 19 parliamentarians who paid less than Rs. 10,000 tax for the year ended 30 June 2016.

According to the Tax Council parliamentarians, senators and all members of the Punjab Assembly tax paid during the period under review.

At least 90 parliamentarians, including 16 senators and 10 MNAs, do not pay any taxes for the year ended June 30, 2014. The list has been reduced to 26 parliamentarians, including seven senators and one MNA, has not paid any taxes for the year.

Two members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly, including Sardar Fareed (PK-45) and Saleh Muhammad (PK-55), did not pay any taxes during the period.

Two provincial members of the Sindh Provincial Assembly, Syed Ghulam Shah including Jeelani (PS-75) and Owais Muzaffar (PS-88) did not pay taxes for this period, according to the prosecutor. Santosh Kumar (Not Mulism-67) from the Balochistan provincial meeting is among MPs who did not pay tax for the year ended 30 June 2017.

Parliamentarians who paid less than Rs. 10,000 taxes included Khatu Mal Jeewan (Rs. 1145), Malik Nadeem Kamran (Rs. 4100), Malik Mohammed Iqbal Channar (Rs. 4100), Chauhdary Muhammad Shafique (Rs. 3050) (Rs. 280979 total paid by POP in taxes paid the taxpayer is a member), Ms Raheela Anwar (Rs. 4645) Mr Khalil Tahir Sandhu (Rs. 8200) Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan MAHAR (Rs. 8750) and (Rs. 40700 tax by POP in pay payable members) Ali Nawaz Shah (Rs. 4053) Shahid Taheem (Rs. 5604).
