Amid reports of the occurrence of various cases of polio, the government has decided to administer polio vaccines to children up to 10 years old.
Previously, the age limit for polio vaccines was five years, which will now be increased to 10 years in its next campaign.
Govt Increases Polio Vaccine Age Limit Double 5 to 10 Years
The authorities have decided to adopt a policy of zero tolerance to the disease after several cases of poliomyelitis occurred last week.
In the first phase, polio will be applied to all children of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) and Afghanistan with priority.
In the second phase, polio workers will visit public and private schools to administer the vaccine.In addition, the government has decided to take strict measures against families who refuse to vaccinate their children.
Polio workers were advised to persuade these families with all possible means. If this is not successful, local authorities will take serious measures against parents.
