The government released Rs. 990,420 million for the Information Technology and Telecommunications division of its Rs. 1,450 million of the credits under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the current fiscal year 2018-19.
The government released Rs. 990,420 million including Rs. 344,505 million foreign aid and Rs. 645,915 million local components for the Information Technology and Telecommunications Division, announced the official documents.
To date, however, no amount has been released for the Common Basic Applications (E-Office) Replication in 45 Federal Government Divisions. The foreign component released is about Rs. 344,505 million.
Government Releases Funds for IT & Telecommunications Division Under PSDP
The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications has proposed a number of Rs. 9,787 million for 15 development projects for the 2018-19 fiscal year, including 6 ongoing projects and 9 new projects.
The Senate Standing Committee approved the Rs 9,787 billion budget proposals under the PSDP for the 2018-19 fiscal year at Rs. 1,538 million for the fiscal year 2017-18.
The government released Rs. 53,348 million for the construction of the cross-border fiber-optic cable system (OFC) between China and Pakistan for international connectivity of voice / data traffic, Rs. 30 million to improve IT exports through industry support programs, Rs. 35 million for the establishment of the SCO Technical Training Institute (STTI) in Gilgit in Gilgit Baltistan, Rs. 140 million for expanding and updating NMSA services (3G / 4G) and ongoing coverage throughout KKH (in support of CPEC) at Gilgit Baltistan, Rs. 308.459 million for the replacement of the GSM network of AJ & K, Rs. 6.44 million for the development of the site and the construction of the border wall at the PSE site for the establishment of the IT park in Chak Shahzad, Islamabad, Rs. 72,668 million for the Technological Park Development Project (TDP) in Islamabad (Phase I).
However, the previous government awarded Rs. 6,535 million for Information Technology and Communications within the framework of the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for 2018-19. With the cut of the established government in PSDP, the budget allocation was reduced to Rs. 1.45 billion for IT & T for the current fiscal year.
