Ministry of Water Saved Rs. 63 Billion Contract for the Diamer Bhasha Dam: Vawda
The minister said: “We could increase the price of construction by 15% according to the PPRA rules, but by failing to do so, we saved Rs 18bn and indirectly Rs 63bn directly.”
He told the House that he would provide a special briefing to the Prime Minister. The permission to use this amount to build the Naulong dam in Balochistan will also be sought at this briefing, the minister said.
Vawda also said that India, under the Indus Water Convention of 1960, controls eastern waters. Therefore, India’s threats to restrict water supplies to Pakistan did not weigh.
