The Pakistani Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has started to block almost 3 million smartphones and phones with illegal features.

According to PTA records, there are up to 2.8 million smuggled or unpaid smartphones in the country, a source known to ProPakistani.
According to the source, these phones will be blocked in several phases and the process started on April 30.

The source further indicated that the phones on the block list were those not registered with the Device Identification and Registration System (DIRBS), despite several extensions on the deadline.

It mainly contains devices that were smuggled to the country after the PTA (January 5, 2019), announced the second deadline and is intended to be blocked in the event of non-compliance.

About DIRBS:-

DIRBS is a device closure and authentication system recently launched by PTA. The system will help block all smuggled and unregistered smartphones, as well as phones with features in the country.

Get Your Phone Unblocked:-

Once a phone that does not meet the requirements is blocked, it cannot be used again until it is registered with the DIRBS. Therefore, if your phone is blocked, you must pay the necessary taxes to unlock it.

  • Go to this website: http://dirbs.pta.gov.pk/
  • Click on the ‘DRS’ tab on the top right corner.
  • Sign up with your original name, email ID and CNIC.
  • Pay the tax and get your phone unblocked.
  • Enter Handset model & and pre-calculated tax/duty will appear on the screen.
