Punjab Food Authority Sealed 4 Plastic Bottle Factories for Harmful Material: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed four plastic bottle factories for failure to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the previous regulator.
17,000 plastic bottles, machinery and raw materials were defective and harmful. Three other factories received warnings, while 10 were temporarily suspended for the use of food grade plastic.
The food authority has recently been very active in various areas of the Punjab province. Two factories in Sheikhupura and one in Faisalabad and Lahore have been penalized for using non-food plastic.
“This is not for the use of food commodities’ on non-food grade plastic. These substandard plastic bottles cannot be used for containing food items.”
The factories are under the supervision of the PFA Monitoring Director, which is in charge of the special operational teams responsible for controlling the factories and other units that produce harmful plastics.
