Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed announced that his ministry would work up to 20 new trains in the country within the next six months.
He made these remarks at a press conference at the Pakistani Railway (PR) headquarters in Lahore.
Railways of Pakistan Will Receive 20 More Trains in Six Months
The minister said the decision to add more passenger trains to the fleet was made due to the increased demand.
These trains will include some VIP passenger trains, some freight trains and some passenger trains in the economy.
He said the new trains would reduce the burden on current passenger trains, as they would also stop at smaller stations.The minister added that there are currently five repairs in China.
Sheikh Rasheed said the losses of Pakistan’s railways were significantly reduced since he took the institution’s losses with losses. He promised to take more steps in the same direction to make PR a lucrative department.
PR is establishing a rail link from Durgai to the Karachi station, in addition to the link between Durga-Nowshera, Kohat train stations.
Sheikh Rasheed reported that the department is planning to launch a new train for the underprivileged part of the association, which also stops at smaller stations.
