The Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, has banned access from Uber and Careem passenger transport services to its facilities.
Uber and Careem are Banned to Enter Karachi Airport
Following the revised policy, cars registered at the online taxi services cannot use the facilities of the airport’s “long-term parking area”.
A warning sign is placed at the airport entrance which says:
The ban, according to the authorities, applies to cars, rickshaws, motorcycles or any other vehicle connected to Careem and Uber. Authorities warned against stricter action against offenders, including vehicle confiscation.
This is not the first incident of this nature, as the administration of the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore has prohibited the access of taxi services online.
The decision was made according to sources as the taxable income with the growing business of online taxi services also increased. However, companies do not pay taxes to the government.
